About this Retreat
Morocco is one of our long time, favorite destinations for retreats. We have chosen Essouira, a laid-back fishing village on the coast as our home for the week. Incredible shopping, pampering beauty treatments, live music venues, delicious Moroccan cuisine, and a lively night life make the perfect combo for a balance of yoga and exploration.
Our retreat includes daily yoga, meals, pampering spa day, cooking class, henna, camel rides and a guided trip into Marrakech, not to mention tons of fun, free time and new travel friends.
Join us on this incredible adventure and get to know Morocco with the locals while learning a bit about yourself along the way.
Essaouira is a prehistoric city, it's buildings has a lot of texture and all doors are painted in the same blue color. In the medina you can find the most fantastic handcrafts for sale, like carpets and other colorful textiles, woodwork pieces with fantastic designs, art paintings, jewelry, clothing and many other fabulous goodies that you wont resist to take home, so bring an extra suitcase. Essaouira cultural scene will allow you to enjoy of the Gnawa music and the berber culture, every year a big festival is celebrated around this music. On the beach you can see people wether riding camels, horses or 4 wheelers, playing soccer, jogging on the pier, as well as people surfing and kite surfing in the ocean, so if you are into any of that bring your stuff.

Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Is this part of Mexico safe? On this island, crime is very low. However, petty thievery does exist, so keep your valuables locked up, to be safe.
-
Is there wifi? Yes, there is wifi throughout the hotel. However, remember we are on an island, so the signal may not be as strong as you are used to. However, we encourage you to take this time to disconnect!
-
Do I need to speak Spanish? Of course it doesn’t hurt, but for the most part, the people in Holbox are used to English-speaking tourists.
-
How much money should I bring? It is important to know that most places are going to be cash only. Those restaurants or shops that do accept credit cards will likely have an associated service charge. There are a couple of ATMs on the island, but they are not reliable. We would recommend trying to exchange dollars to pesos before leaving the U.S. However, there are also opportunities to exchange or withdraw at the airport. In terms of spending money, all lunches are on your own as well as two dinners, so that you can enjoy the local restaurants—which are delicious! You will be able to find some meals as cheap as US$5 but also some as expensive as US$30. To be safe, we’d recommend allotting $50 a day, or perhaps a bit more if you plan to shop.
-
Are the rooms air-conditioned? Yes, all of the rooms have air-conditioners as well as fans.
-
Is clean drinking water available? Yes, there will be drinking water available. You should not drink the tap water. However, no need to worry about avoiding ice in restaurants, as it is standard at all places to use clean water to make ice.
-
How are the mosquitos? The mosquitos can be quite annoying around sunrise and sunset. It is highly recommended to bring insect repellent with you.
